Tecsound T50 and Self-Adhesive T50S, non-flammable soundproofing mats are produced to substantially upgrade the soundproofing of lightweight structures such as stud walls and timber joisted floors. T50 and T50S will greatly improve the soundproofing properties when sandwiched between other dense layers such as Acoustic Plasterboard and plywood.
The self-adhesive version (T50S) will also reduce vibration and improve the sound insulation when applied directly onto metal panels. This is particularly advantageous when installed on top metal roofs and will reduce the drumming noise of rainfall when used as part of an overall roof insulation system.
Tecsound Soundproofing Mats are a polymer-based, asphalt-free, high density synthetic material that can be used in many different parts of a building to improve the sound insulation of that particular structure. Tecsound Soundproofing Mat is a very flexible material and has high visco-elasticity and is temperature resistant within normal limits.
(See technical Specification). Tecsound does not contain any PVC’s normally found in most other soundproofing mats but due to its recycled nature an odour is sometimes noticeable. Although not harmful, any odour would be unwanted so we suggest covering with polythene to seal the soundproofing mat if an odour is evident. Polythene can be ordered from us at the same time as ordering the Tecsound if required.

Tecsound 50 is an excellent soundproofing material. Rigid sheet materials such as plywood and plasterboard offer little acoustic value when used as single sheets because they easily vibrate thus allowing sound to pass though relatively easily. Because Tecsound Soundproofing Mats are acoustically better than lead of the same surface weight yet retains flexibility, sound damping of these panels with this product is very effective and even more effective when sandwiched between two layers of panels.
Tecsound 50 is a very heavy product and rolls will require help when handling!
Because T50 and T50S are produced from a large proportion of recycled materials, there is sometimes a distinctive smell when the product is unpacked. Usually any smell will be gone within a few days but as a precaution, we advise applying a thin layer of polythene (that we can also supply) over the soundproofing on walls and floors before the final covering is installed to seal in any potential smells. If you should forget to include a polythene sealing layer when this product is sandwiched between two layers of Acoustic Plasterboard and a smell is evident, you can overpaint with a primer sealer that has been tried and tested by another customer.
